Below is a screenshot from the city of Raleigh portal for a proposed subdivision process I have been trying to get done at my home in Raleigh. We have a large lot that is big enough for two R4 designated lots, which would increase the inventory in our desirable neighborhood of Lakepark. It would also likely free up inventory in lower categories as this is a starter/midterm neighborhood where folks frequently buy their first home after living in rentals and apartments.
The process has been someone arduous, and I finally hired an engineer who has been helpful. But as you can see below there are 10 different approvals we need just to even start the process of the subdivision. Feels like overkill.
